The lovely Rachel Taylor is an intern from the University of California at Davis who has come to learn the business and to flirt with the winemaker’s son as well as his head vintner.Īt the competition itself the judges give us insight into the complex criteria that goes into the challenge and we hear about a wine’s bouquet that may be buttery, crisp, smoky, earthy or citrusy. The late Alan Rickman plays a stereotypical British wine snob who becomes a champion for the upstart New World beverages. A long-haired aimless son, Chris Pine, eventually matures and saves the day for his failed winemaker father, Bill Pullman. There is a nice family drama that revolves around the competition.
